Vice President, Fleet Operations BC Ferries
Captain Jamie Marshall is Vice President, Fleet Operations at British Columbia Ferry Services Inc. Captain Marshall is responsible for the leadership and management of 35 vessels and fleet personnel on 24 routes throughout coastal British Columbia. Captain Marshall’s responsibilities also encompass the Safety & Health department; Training department; and the Operations & Security Centre.
Prior to joining BC Ferries in 1990, Captain Marshall served nine years as an Officer with the Royal Canadian Navy. He served as Chief Officer and Master on various routes and vessels in the BC Ferries fleet before proceeding ashore as Operational Safety Superintendent; Marine Superintendent of the South Coast region; and Vice President, Safety, Security & Environment.
Captain Marshall holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters Certificate of Competency.
Captain Marshall serves on several Boards including as Chair of the Canadian Ferry Operators’ Association; Canadian Coast Guard’s Pacific Marine Advisory Board; and the Chamber of Shipping’s Western Marine Community Coalition. He was awarded Fellowship of the Nautical Institute in December 2016.
