Rear-Admiral Nigel S. Greenwood, RCN (Ret’d)

Over a 37-year naval career RAdm Greenwood specialized in navigation, air-control, and anti-submarine warfare. He commanded units at ship, base, fleet and regional formation levels, as well as serving as the Deputy Commander of the RCN. His last appointment was as the Commander Maritime Forces Pacific, responsible for all Canadian Forces joint operations, maritime security & defence, and Search and Rescue on Canada’s west coast.
 
Since retiring from RCN in 2012, RAdm Greenwood has consulted under the banner of Greenwood Maritime Solutions Ltd. This has included safety assessments on marine terminals, Threat/Risk Analysis and Security Assessments under contract to the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, and Risk/Operational Analyses for the Pacific Pilotage Authority and the Prince Rupert Port Authority. Recently he has consulted on Emergency Management, specifically on earthquake preparedness, and on Maritime Force Development for the Department of National Defence. 
 
RAdm Nigel Greenwood is a graduate of Royal Roads Military College (BSc in Physics and Oceanography) and the Royal College of Defence Studies/King’s College London (MA in International Relations). He also attended the Executive Course of the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in Honolulu. He is a certified Master Mariner, and a Fellow of both the Royal Institute of Navigation and the Nautical Institute. He is currently Chair of the BC Branch of the NI.
