Captain Mangat is a senior investigator at the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, Pacific region. During the first 18 years of his career, Captain Mangat circumnavigated the world and performed complex liquid chemical and oil transfer operations as a watch keeping officer and master on board tankers operated by Stolt Neilsen Transportation Group. Since coming ashore in 2008, he has held various positions of increasing responsibility in the technical and commercial management of tankers. The work included collaborating with stakeholders to manage risk associated with company tanker operations in Europe and Middle East as well as implementing incident management plans.
Captain Mangat holds a Master Mariner certificate of competency, certificate in Project Management and Master’s degree in Business Administration. He is a member of The Nautical Institute, Deputy Master of the Company of Master Mariners of Canada, Vancouver branch and Director at Large of the Nautical Professional Education Society of Canada.
